PERMS ARE NOT ALWAYS SUITABLE FOR ALL HAIR TYPES
Avoid perming hair if the following applies:
Hair that has been previously bleached/highlighted or any colour used to lighten hair. Even if you’ve coloured over it since, you must be honest with your stylist so your hair is protected. Consult required if unsure.
Longer hair that already has been previously permed should not be re permed, it will just go frizzy.
Hair that’s too long, thick & heavy won’t perm well due to the weight dragging it out.
Hair should not have been exposed to henna treatments, keratin or herbal hair treatments as they create a barrier that perm lotion can’t penetrate properly.
OTHER ADVISE
Minimum age for Perms is 12, please be aware children can be sensitive to chemicals so it's at your own desertion. We do all we can to avoid irritation but please inform stylist if you have any concerns
Be specific about what you want from a perm, many pics today for ladies especially are styled curly and that look is not created by a perm.
Shorter hair perms do very well due to the condition and the need to be cut regularly. Choose to give body and hold style.
Men & Boys wanting a perm should not have the crown area cut too short or rest of hair thinned out at all.
We can’t just perm the front of your hair as it will not look balanced. Thinning out creating different lengths causes problems. so if your going else where for your haircut don't thin out.
Hair is best left wet and not shampooed for 72 hours to keep a reasonably tight curl.
Softer curls created to give body and texture only can of blowdried on shorter length hair.
AFTERCARE ADVISE
Don’t get hair wet or shampoo for 72 hours after perm
Protein rich shampoos and conditions should be used after perming.
Never rub or try to towel dry hair, instead, roll hair into towel and squeeze.
A good moisture rich curl cream should be applied to wet hair by rubbing between palms of hands so you distribute evenly and combed through just once into shape using a wide tooth comb.
Air dry where possible to keep curl tight.
Low to medium heat and diffuser if you really want to dry hair, twisting hair in direction you want it to go ensuring symmetry on each side holding hairdryer downwards.
Shorter hair can and sometimes should be blowdried if you’ve had perm just to create body only and are not wanting a tight curl.
Avoid overtouching hair, you don’t want to cause too much friction as this opens hair cuticles allowing moisture to get in and create frizz.
Olaplex no.3 is a great product to use to strengthen hair bonds after a perm.
